Our very beloved bitch Abba has died suddenly

This is the saddest possible news for me to tell. Our lovely Abba died on Wednesday. She was diagnosed a rectum tumour on February 2010.  She was 9 years and 9 months 1 day when she died and she lived many times more than dogs usually do after that that diagnosis. Her lifetime expectation was then only couple of months and she lived for 17 months! Unfortunately the cancer had spread to her liver and the end came very quickly.

She was still with us on our normal one hour forest walk on Monday morning. On Tuesday we were all tracking on field and she worked well and jumped easily to my car. But on Tuesday evening her condition worsened dramatically and at night we went to see a vet and got more efficient pain killers. The first symptom was on Sunday the 17th on our way back from Sweden when she had symptoms of inflammation in her urinary systems. She got some antibiotica and pain killers for that and at first it looked like they would have helped. But then last weekend she was not getting better and on Monday morning I tried to get an appointment to our normal vet but they were very busy so I got a time for her on Wednesday in another clinic. There the vet surched her with ultrasound and found that her liver had two cancer tumours and her stomach was filled with fluid. There were nothing else to do than euthanasia.

She lived for full and happy life all the way to her last day. As you may have also read from my websites our summer holiday in Sweden was very succesful: Abba was BOB in dog show and got CAC and became Swedish Champion on the 10.7. and that was just two and half weeks ago. We had many good moments this summer also that are very nice to remember. But this has been very hard thing for us, cause we started already to believe that it is not cancer at all. She was feeling so well and healthy and as the show judge also said: in exceptionally good condition for her age. But sometimes life is very, very hard. Now is time for our mourning period. Farewell our dearest Abba.
